Banned Graphic Novel Book Club Discussion Now Open – Join us today for the discussion!
Hello my lovely fellow Cannonballers! We are a week away from this year’s Banned Graphic Novels Book Club! (Did September get away from anyone else? Just me?)
We’ll be discussing Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe, Class Act by Jerry Craft, and This One Summer by Mariko Tamaki and Jillian Tamaki with topics ranging from how the art in each book impacted the meaning-making, to how much ‘explicit’ content is really present in any of these titles, to how racism and stereotyping shape the lives of the characters.
We’ll have three discussion posts – one for each book – here on the site starting Friday October 6th. Then on Saturday October 7th at 6 pm EDT we’ll be convening our Zoom* Book Club where we get together to chat about the books together, and banned books.
