Camembert would prefer to live life on her own terms which include never marrying a man. Unfortunately for her, in the kingdom of Fromage, women can’t inherit. So, when her father passes away, Cam moves away as far as possible, disguises herself as a man, and restarts her life as Count Camembert. However, when Cam strikes up a friendship with Princess Brie, it becomes much harder to keep her secret, especially as the two of them might be falling for one another. But what sort of relationship can they have when someone learning that Cam is a woman might send her to jail? Or does true love have a chance of changing things for the both of them?
This a delightful romantic comedy graphic novel full of cheesy puns, mistaken identities, and true love. It’s a little tropey, but very enjoyable. Both Cam and Brie are flawed by lovable characters, and your quickly sucked into their romance. The supporting cast is a lot of fun as well. There’s a lot of pining as well as a fair amount of shenanigans. The art style is warm and cheerful. Fans of comics like Check Please! will enjoy, and while it’s technically a young adult title, I think adults might like it just as much. If you’re looking for something a lighthearted and a little bit cheesy, this is definitely a romance for you. Four out of five stars.
