What’s your favorite part about being a librarian?
I love that moment when you find just the right piece of information for a patron whether it’s a legal form that they need, that book that they read but can’t remember the title or the author, or the book recommendation you gave that they come back and rave to you about.
How do you decide what to read next on your TBR pile?
Library due date. I get most of my books from the library these days (I’m lucky enough to have two library systems in easy reach), so the day that book is due back is typically the biggest decider, though if it’s a series I will wait until I have book one to start with. I have been known to have a significant amount of overdue books at times, but thankfully, my local libraries are both fine free.
Which do you find easier to write, a one-star review or a five-star?
One star reviews. I always seem to have more to say when I didn’t like a book. Of course, I also tend to feel a little guilty afterwards because while it might not be a book for me, maybe someone else will love it. But people who know will tell you I like to vent about the things that annoy me in books. I have a lot harder time articulating why I really loved something at times.
What’s your favorite thing you’ve read because of a CBR review?
The Fiancée Farce. I haven’t read a lot of romances that I really liked even though I really do like romance in my books, but I’m trying to broaden my horizons. I picked this one up after seeing Emmalita’s review, and it was one of the first contemporary romances that really worked for me.
Just for something totally different: what’s your favorite genre of music?
It changes, but right now I’m really into Pop Folk. Stuff the like the Decemberists, Mumford & Sons, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Taylor Swift’s Folklore and Evermore era, etc. Right now, I’m really enjoying a group called The Amazing Devil who makes that sort of music. This is my current favorite of theirs.
