I sometimes think that I read too much. And then I decide I will take a break from reading, but before I do, I will read one more little thing. And I have said before, I am trying to clean up my online reader links (not that I am ever going to come close) and landed on one that is a four board book collection by Loes Botman. They are part of a series called Hello Animals. They are cute, simple, but as it was online I am not sure of the size they will be, but I’m assuming they will be regular board book sized, shaped and quality, plus in a boxed set. The official name is Hello Animals: A Board Book Gift Collection and officially due in April 2024.
The publisher’s description of Hello Animals, What Makes You Special? (one title in the collection) says it is “a sophisticated My First
Animals with beautiful brightly coloured pastel artwork” and you can identify the “unique characteristics of different animals.” And each one of the books has the same idea. There are cuddly squirrels, flamboyant peacocks, some creepy and crawly, and a clever cub or two. The way they are presented allows you to adapt to your child’s needs as they grow. Read the text or read the art, there is something for everyone. For the adult in me I was mesmerized by the art. They are soft, have the feeling you are looking at the canvas they are painted on. And the colors are bold, popping and details are minimal but allow things to be blanketed in what is needed.
Included in this collection is Hello Baby Animals, Who Are You?, Hello Bugs, What Do You Do?, Hello Animals, How Do You Sleep? and of course, Hello Animals, What Makes You Special? Other books by Botman are available such as Hello Birds, What Do You Say?, Hello Farm, How Do You Do? and Hello Animals, Where Do You Live? And if you cannot wait for the collection, the books in it are available as well.
