Tessa Bailey can write some top-tier smut! I enjoyed the Hell out of It Happened One Summer and Hook, Line, and Sinker. I am also a huge fan of crime and murder mysteries. I actually have a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Not that I am actually using it professionally. I do like to tell people that I have a degree in Forensics and a lake behind my house, so don’t piss me off, but I digress. So when I saw that Tessa Bailey was combining smut and murder mystery, I was definitely on board.
Taylor is an overworked Elementary School teacher who decides to actually take a real vacation, mostly because her brother needs a getaway. They rent a house on Cape Cod, and quickly discover peepholes drilled into the bedroom ceiling and a corpse in the laundry room. The owner of the house calls in a favor from a private detective and former cop, Myles. Taylor is a bit of a true-crime junkie and so she is the typical busybody who won’t leave the case alone. Unfortunately for Myles, she keeps finding evidence and he needs her assistance.
This book is heavy on the insta-lust, but Tessa Bailey made it feel natural. Taylor and Myles both realize that though they are different from what each other is used to, they are exactly what the other person needs. Also, the sexy flirty scenes are HOTTT! You have to love a man who isn’t threatened by a vibrator. Remember gentlemen, vibrators are allies, not competition!
