2022 was the year I really got into romance novels. I started with The Love Hypothesis, and quickly moved on to smuttier and smuttier books. After binge-reading about half of the Ice Planet Barbarians series, I started reading monster smut and I have never looked back!
An Inheritance of Monsters tells the story of Juno, a paranormal investigator with a successful YouTube channel. Unlike most of her male counterparts, she can actually see ghosts. However, until she visits Duskwood Manor, she has never seen monsters. Juno and several other paranormal investigators or skeptics have been invited to the Manor to stay for a month. This could be the chance to make a successful network TV show. Duskwood Manor doesn’t seem to be very welcoming of guests, except strangely enough, for Juno. The very shadows seem to whisper to her and caress her.
Not gonna lie, this book is spicy, smutty, dirty, whatever horny adjective you use to describe reading what basically amounts to porn. Which I onviously have zero shame about. There are a lot of fluids and tentacles and knotting and if you don’t know what that is, don’t Google it on your work computer. It’s a Why Choose? novel (formerly known as Reverse Harem), which means the heroine ends up with all of the possible love interests. There’s something that just hits different about monster smut. Maybe it’s the juxtaposition of their monstrous nature and just how sweetly they treat their human woman? Whatever it is, if loving monster smut makes me a freak, I will proudly let my freak flag fly!
