CBR14 BINGO: Dough Square (BINGO! Series to Dough BINGO! Bodies to Elephant)
(Lots of dough. Pie dough in particular.)
I don’t think that I realized how much heavy stuff I had been reading as of late until I picked up this book. The levity was much appreciated. Another book unearthed by keyword searching for CBR Bingo.
Olivia is a pastry chef at an exclusive Boston club and is sleeping with her married and much older boss. After a Baked Alaska mishap that involves the fire department, Liv flees to the small Vermont town where her best friend lives to lick her wounds. When she is offered a job at a local B & B that comes with a small cabin to live in free of charge, she decides to stay for a bit to make some money while figuring out what’s next. Banjo and fiddle playing, hard cider drinking, sleigh riding, porch sitting, pie contest-ing and broody neighbor guy flirting ensue.
Harvest dances and lost of apple talk reminded me of one of my all time favorite comfort movies: Baby Boom. There is also definitely a Linda Holmes vibe here as well and fans of her books should feel right at home.
It’s a sweet book guranteed to make you want to immediately dig into a pile of baked goods. Perfect for this time of year under a comfy blanket with a cup of tea (or mulled cider). It’s one of those books that rolls out visually for me like a Hallmark movie. It isn’t (I looked it up) but it should absolutely be a fall or holiday Hallmark/UP/Lifetime/Netflix movie.
