Alrighty, add this to my list of manga that I’m throwing in the dustbin. The premise was interesting enough: an alien promises to end the world in a set amount of time, but will teach the reject class (and let them attempt to assassinate him) in the meantime. However, what the Reese’s Pieces fuck was this volume!? First, you have the new character, an adult woman, who is just sex on legs, to the point that she kisses one of the high school boys. Then you have the head of the school outright admitting a sinister plot against the kids in Class E, making it so the other 99% of the kids are motivated to not be in that class, even if it means pulling shady shit like changing what’s on the exam the day before (without telling Class E). Like do you have to lean this hard into the “the alien isn’t the real villain” idea? It’s a bit much, don’t you think? That being said, there’s zero subtlety with everything in this volume, so I shouldn’t have expected anything else. Did I mention that we also get it driven home hard that he’s a better teacher as their future killer than any of the humans with actual teaching degrees? It’s just all so… so… much, and I can’t stand it any longer. Anybody have any other manga recommendations for somebody new(ish) to manga? One-Punch Man and Assassination Classroom have really killed my vibe lately, and Chainsaw Man has sorta lost its footing lately, so I’m currently in the market for some really good manga if you guys and gals have any good suggestions.
To the trash you go…
