I love it when I see people reading books I love and I am also one conversational turn from enthusiastically recommending a large number of books. At the same time there are a few books that make me so mad I get an eye twitch and my voice moves into a range only canines can hear.
If you think this diversion is a thinly veiled opportunity for me to list a bunch of books I love, you are correct. I also want to know which books you have to restrain yourself from shoving in people’s faces.
- Right now I’m so happy people are reading P. Djèlí Clark’s Dead Djinn in Cairo universe.
- I can’t wait for people to start reading Tasha Suri’s Burning Kingdoms series. The Oleander Sword came out yesterday!
- I will forever scream about queer romance and, yes, I will give you all the recs.
I don’t spend much energy on books I don’t like, but occasionally something will remind me and I’ll get mad all over again. Only one book springs to mind unprompted though, and that book is Hi, I’m an Atheist by David Whatshisface. I could do an actual TED talk on why this book is bad.
Share in the comments the books that make you scream, or, if you are more measured in your approach, the books you would recommend or gently suggest we avoid.
