I LOVED THIS BOOK. It had everything. EVERYTHING. It was interesting, unique, witty, 100% Flavia, new, old, EVERYTHING. It had the old characters, new characters, a new plot, and the same old Flavia. Unique, witty, quirky, and fun, Flavia is back yet again. Will this series ever end? I hope not! Warning – this is the weirdest book so far. The plot is a little far-fetched, but I loved it just the same.
Speaking From Among the Bones is the 5th Flavia De Luce book. Flavia can dig up clues at the rate of a steam shovel, no matter where they are. But she isn’t used to digging up bodies, which is what is happening in Bishops Lacey. To honor the 500th anniversary of St. Tancred’s death, the people of Bishops Lacey are preparing to dig up their patron saint’s tomb (the townspeople aren’t going to do the digging, just to clarify). And of course, Flavia is the most excited of all to have a look in the crypt. But when she is being typical Flavia and nosing about the church, trying to get the first look, she ends up getting it. Not of St. Tancred. Of a murder scene. Flavia investigates (no matter what Inspector Huitt does to try and stop her), does her usual chemical analysis, and nearly gets killed, all to solve this murder.
Overall, I would give this book 4 stars, like the rest, because even though the plot gets a little weird it is still a great book (and in a way that makes it more interesting). Nice job, Flavia!
