So I finished this book back in January, but I just re-read a summary of the book to refresh my memory. Ugh. My brain is reminding me how much I disliked this book too! The basic story is about a woman (Addison) who’s engaged to a great sounding man. He’s a nice, smart, intelligent guy with a good job, a pretty good family, a nice house, and he’s financially comfortable. Addison on the other hand has a menial job, she’s pretty nice, has almost zero confidence, is always worried about her past, and is basically a constant mess. I know that people who are going through a rough time deserve love and friendship and companionship. It’s just that she met this guy while she was already a mess, and I didn’t understand why / how he fell so madly in love with her. The couple she lives with found her bleeding on the side of the road, and she has no memory of what happened.
Let’s start story number two… Julian is looking for his missing wife! She wouldn’t have just left! They have a daughter! Their life was perfect! What could have happened???!!!
I think anyone with half a brain saw the connection between these two stories coming from a mile away. The way that they connect is just so icky and dumb. I don’t want to ruin the “twist” for anyone who wants to read this book, but let me be clear – Do Not Read This Book! It’s not worth all the shouting and swearing you’ll do while you’re reading it. I borrowed this book from the library and listened to it on the OverDrive app, which has this magical feature where you can speed up the book. By the final third of the book I was listening to it at 1.6X original speed. It was basically the Micro Machines guy reading to me it was so fast! Please don’t read this book! It’s bad 🙂
