DNF at 15 percent.
I tried you guys. I tried so hard. But after sitting in the house and watching the snowflakes on Sunday, I just had to give this one up at 15 percent. I know I should be enthralled by this, but I was so bored, and kept getting distracted. I feel like I should be tossed in book jail for not finishing this one and not enjoying it.
“Klara and the Sun” follows an artificial intelligence (Klara) who is an Artificial Friend. Klara and the others in the store she is in hope to be chosen. And it just follows Klara as she watches the humans who come into browse and gives information concerning the other AI’s.
I liked the cover.
I don’t know what else to say. This was so boring to me to read. This should have been up my alley. I love science fiction! I love speculative fiction!
At least I feel better that based on Goodreads reviews people either loved it or hated it. I am definitely in the there’s now way I am reading this to completion any time in the near future position.
Characters are meh IMHO. I needed to feel/care something about Klara. Heck, even when you are reading an anti-hero type book you still feel a lot of disgust for the character and you keep reading cause you hope a house gets dropped on the person. I just didn’t care about Klara.
The flow is what messed this up for me. It’s too damn slow guys. I needed something to grip me. I get that other people were like the words are so beautiful. Yes, words are very nicely put together. I just ceased to care because nothing was going on. The storyline itself was vague at times and this novel did not need vagueness.
