In May, the CannonBookClub will discuss books that take us back to childhood. That might mean a favorite book from your childhood, or a more recent book that you wish you had read as a child.
As a child and early teen, I loved books where virtuous people suffered virtuously until they were rewarded at the end. How very Victorian! Fortunately, I’ve grown past that and I’m not terribly interested in revisiting the books of my childhood.
I am, however, delighted and slightly jealous of the amazing books available to kids now. Some kids books I wish I had as a kid:
- Claribel Ortega’s Ghost Squad,
- Raina Telgameier’s graphic novel, Drama,
- the whole beautiful adventure world of Rick Riordan Presents, and
- the amazing world of modern comic books with characters like Miles Morales and Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan
What books take you back to childhood? Are they books you revisit? Books you wish you had read as a kid? Books you can’t wait to share with the young readers in your life? Let us know in the comments.
