I can’t be the only one spending more time online to entertain myself. Besides reading books and binge-watching, have you been spending a huge chunk of time scrolling on social? As a consequence, I have entered every book giveaway I have seen even though I do not have space for new books in my house. I tell myself that I’m making an exception for FREE books. With the current social distancing climate, you may have noticed book publishers have been hosting more virtual events than ever before. Even some authors who were leery of social media have agreed to join a Zoom book panel. Penguin Random House recently launched a brand new Facebook video series called The Great Fantasy Debate.
In the spirit of #FollowFriday, let’s share our favorite authors to follow on social media. Who tells the funniest jokes? Who shares adorable pictures of their furry writing buddies? This week’s diversion may even introduce you to a new author to check out for Cannonball Read 12. Added Incentive: when you follow accounts in a similar subject, Facebook will start showing you more of that category. More book-ish ads will likely come your way.
If you’re so inclined, share your Twitter and/or Instagram handle so we can follow you with our Cannonball Read accounts.
My three suggestions are:
Follow Charlie Jane Anders if you want to geek out about sci-fi and fantasy LGBTQIA stories.
Follow Samantha Irby if you wanna laugh and keep it real.
