I’d had this book on my shelf for quite some time before I dove in, and I can’t believe I waited so long! High Performance Habits truly lives up to the title as it provides practical lessons to take your productivity to the next level. In order to squeeze every ounce of knowledge from this book, be prepared to set time aside to complete the activities. It is worth it.
“Be more intentional about who you want to become. Have vision beyond your current circumstances. Imagine your best future self, and start acting like that person today.” – Brendon Burchard
One of my favorite activities from the book is to journal all of the ways you want to feel. From there, you narrow down your list to three words. Next, you take your three words and plug them into a regular alarm on your phone, so that every time the alarm goes off, you are reminded of how you want to feel. The three words I chose are *Joyful*Inspired*Fun*. I have these words written all over my planner, and I have three alarms set to go off every day as a reminder.
Burchard also suggests taking time every morning to ask yourself “What do I want to feel today?” and “What can I get excited or enthusiastic about today?” I took the advice from the previous activity and created morning alarms for these two questions to remind myself to reflect as I get ready each day. These alarms have been a game changer. As simple as they sound, the consistent reminder has already begun to rewire parts of my brain that were consumed by less positive thought patterns.
