So, I follow Shea on twitter and really appreciate his brand of humor. He is a writer for the sports and pop-culture blog The Ringer. Shea is 100% enthusiastic at all times and gets just as excited for other as he does for himself. This book is a collection of essays and artwork about the NBA from 1980 to now. It is full of ridiculous essays like a draft of the greatest fictional basketball players and the comprehensive list of the most disrespectful dunks in the history of the game. I LOVED this because I am of a similar age as Shea, I think, and so I remember all of the events he writes about. If you are not or did not grow up a basketball fan, this is not the book for you. If you think you might be interested in basketball and like laughing, it could work. If you love basketball and are a millennial, this is a book for you. Put it next to the toilet and read an easy per visit. I think that would make Shea happy.
This is my first cannonball after six attempts. It is the second time in six years that I have finished the required number of books but the first time I have written all of the reviews. I accomplished it by fully embracing audiobooks. I listen while doing dishes, exercising, and driving. As a full-time student with two kids, #3 due in February, I do not read books as much as I’d like, be they e-books or actual books. My kids are young so time is an issue but they are both developing a love for reading as well and it warms my heart something fierce. Thanks for reading and I look forward to reading with all of you again next year!
