I’m not really sure where to begin with this book. It’s super weird, but kinda fun at the same time. I’m nearly positive I liked it! It was a quick read too. There’s a while bunch of other books in the series, so I’m definitely continuing on with Alice’s tales.
So I’ll just start where the book starts. There’s a murder of a girl at Oxford University, and it looks like the Cheshire Cat did it. Like this guy:
From Alice in Wonderland. Except in this world, he’s considered a “Wonderland Monster”. Oh, and he’s a serial killer too. So I guess it’s more like this guy:
Suuuper creepy. Anyway, we next switch over to a nearby asylum. A girl named Alice is locked up for apparently killing all of her friends in a bus accident. She’s not really sure who she is, or any other details about her crime though. She gets electro shock therapy, and tries to escape. Alice is mad. Like crazy mad, not angry mad.
In a much nicer cell in the asylum, we meet Pillar the Killer. He’s a serial killer too, and apparently another Wonderland Monster (the hookah smoking caterpillar). He talks Alice into helping him find the Cheshire (for potentially nefarious reasons).
They leave the asylum daily and try to catch him. I won’t spoil the crazy weird details. I will be reading at least the next book, because I love Alice, and I really like the Wonderland twists. There were a bunch of mysteries set up, and some of them were settled, but there are plenty more.
