Vacation book #3, and the most beach-vacationy of the lot.
Molly is a married mother of a young daughter and a new writer for the local paper in a suburban university town. When a baby’s body is discovered on the fringes of the university’s property, Molly is assigned to the story when her more seasoned colleagues are unavailable. A loss in Molly’s recent past makes this assignment especially difficult, but her quest for the truth yields a lot of secrets about those in her town.
Molly’s perspective alternates with that of Sandy, a bright teenager, looking for her flake mom after finding out the rent is past due, and Barbara, the town sanctimommy.
This book was totally over-the-top with regards to plot, but the pace was good and I read it very quickly. I read Reconstructing Amelia by the same author, and I enjoyed this one much more. I was hesitant to pick this one up based on my feelings about Reconstructing Amelia, but the owner of our local bookstore recommended it. This was a satisfying beach-read, and a few frozen beverages should only enhance your experience. Another argument for always listening to the bookstore owner!
