Ok, so this is book 2 for the “CSU” series by D.H. Dublin (who is apparently really Jon McGoran). Like I said in my review for Book 1 (Body Trace), I have no idea where these books came from, but I’m now currently working on Book 3, so apparently I like them :). Also, all 3 of my books are autographed by the author. I don’t remember buying them, but I really don’t know how else they got onto my bookshelf (book fairy?).
Anyway, Madison is easing herself into the CSU in Philly. She’s at the scene of a possible suicide, when the ME’s office is running late to pick up the body. The other CSU with her has to go to another death investigation, so she’s left to keep the scene secure. Unfortunately, the father of the victim wheels up to the house while she’s there protecting his dead son’s body. Feeling badly, she basically befriends the older crippled man and helps him out throughout the investigation into his son’s death. She of course also does some digging into everyone involved in the case.
Along the way, Madison’s life is threatened, she’s almost killed, and she appears to have a guardian angel in two separate instances. I really liked that aspect of the story, because we kind of know who it is (well, I had an idea), and she’s really smart, but she doesn’t think about it long enough to figure it out. Like I said earlier, I like these characters, and I like the stories, so I’d recommend this book. It’s fast-paced too, so you can finish it pretty quickly!
