So the cover of this audiobook is just the number 1222. Not terribly exciting. Then I flipped the box over & my eye caught a few words: Norwegian, murder, train derailment… I was totally in!
We start off with a woman in a wheelchair on a train. It’s not a spoiler if I tell you who she is (Hanna Wilhelmsen – this is book 8 in her series), & that the train crashes almost immediately (duh, it’s on the box). Hanna is the main character, & she’s a former police officer in the Norwegian police force. Apparently she was shot in an earlier book in this series, so she’s crippled and in a wheelchair. She doesn’t really like anyone to help her or really talk to her. She basically just wants to get home. Unfortunately, the storm of the century is brewing in the town where the train crashed, so no one can get in or out. All of the passengers hole up at the hotel at the closest train station after getting rescued from the crash.
People are pretty ok once they get rooms and food, but some people are not. Hanna sleeps in the lobby, so she finds out quickly when the first murder occurs. It’s a priest that a lot of people there know. There are 3 more deaths throughout, and none are expected. Hanna eventually participates in the investigation & figures it out in the end. I loved the characters in this story, and I loved Hanna. I’ll definitely be continuing this series! Maybe I’ll even start at the beginning ?
