So badkittyuno called me out for being a lazy reviewer by getting her Judy Greer review up before me.
Most Pajiba readers know Judy Greer, probably from her role as Kitty Sanchez on Arrested Development (which I’ve seen, in full, twice in the last twelve months alone) and her voice over work on Archer (which both my husband and I love). However, Ms Greer loitered around in chick flicks during my formative years so I also remember her as “the friend” in 27 Dresses, 13 Going on 30 and the Wedding Planner as well. I’ll just say my Judy Greer knowledge is particularly well rounded.
As with most memoirs, she talks a lot about growing up (in a suburb of Detroit) but where I Don’t Know What You Know Me From really differentiates itself is a great insight into the “working” actor. Judy is someone who works constantly because there are bills to be paid but never has to worry about paparazzi stalking her when she is picking up her dry cleaning. Judy is very appreciative of all she has, and a lot of her “name dropping” is more starstruck then anything else. Most of the people she mentions as close friends aren’t famous, neither is her husband.
Rather then spoil too much I say just read it! Even if you don’t know where you know Judy from you’ll enjoy her stories!
One thing I learned? Greer isn’t her birth name! Oh Hollywood, you’re crazy.
