Ok…this one has done it for me – no more zombie books. I was never really a fan of the genre – rotting shamblers don’t do it for me the way that sexy vampires can.
And this book ….oy… what was I thinking? I heard about it from the IO9 Book club – and I really respect IO9. Guess I didn’t read enough of the comments or perhaps did but disregarded them.
OK – so this is a horror book. True horror. Not dark things in your basement horror either. The horror is not the zombies – it’s the humans. Its what we all become…or actually are.
The world has been swept by a zombie plague. Turns out the zombies don’t come after you….they just “die” and remain…”twitching”….moving…. alive. So what do you do with millions of “undead twitchers”? The solution to get rid of the bodies (which are still twitching ..ewwww…) is to launch them into space. Where they orbit, change the quality of the sunlight and occasionally fall back to earth in horrendous flaming vortexes…yikes.
But the real horror is the kind of people who came up with the ways to dispose of the bodies and that remain alive. Those people are either sheep or the most vile amoral horrendous things you can’t imagine. Or can. Those are the people who make a living creating more zombies (dead twitchers) and launching them into space. They are called “sellers” OK. OMG. Whiskeytangofoxtrot why did I buy this book.
I finished the book because it was a thin book and I just wanted to see if there was any resolution – I guess there was sort of. Someone compared it to Phillip K Dick – yeah – Dick on Meth. Maybe.
I will be selling this book to the local halfprice as soon as possible.
thank you and good day.
