Never get involved in a land war with Jack Reacher

Never Go Back by Lee Child

January 10, 2014 by Return of Santitas 2 Comments

51LXXi8ragL._SY344_PJlook-inside-v2,TopRight,1,0_SH20_BO1,204,203,200_How did I discover the Jack Reacher series? I can’t even remember how it came into my life. The airport? A bus station? A friend? Perhaps a Cannonball Read recommendation? However it happened, I’m glad it did. These books are like crack to me.

A couple months ago I recommended the series to my dad when he was going on a business trip. The next time we talked he expressed his very strong opinions about Mr. Reacher, something along the lines of “What a piece of crap.”

Yes, the stunt driving in the movie was annoying. But I thought the entire movie was annoying, and wish Tom Cruise hadn’t ruined the film possibilities for one of my favorite series of books. Damn you, Tom!

What annoyed me about the movie was that Lee Child was actually happy with the casting of Tom Cruise after 6 years of negotiations!

“What people forget is that Tom Cruise is quite possibly the best actor of his generation.” – Lee Child, Empire Magazine …really Lee? really??
