That great ol’ franchise wordspew James Patterson offers us number “I’ve lost count keeping track of this shit” in his Private megalomaniacal series. This one takes place in the mothership, Los Angeles, and despite the Vegas moniker, it’s really of the Private LA family. Ask James Patterson. Seriously, ask him. He’s a nice guy, but I don’t even think he can keep track of what he’s pooping out anymore. CBR #11 — Not Every McDonald’s Gets The McRib
Sawed-Off Nancy Drew
I love me some Wendig. Shotgun Gravy is the novella that introduces yet another of his badass heroines — Atlanta Burns. She’s been described as Veronica Mars meets Justified, and if that don’t salt your potatoes, I’m on the wrong fucking website. CBR #10 – Sawed-Off Nancy Drew
Dosvedanya Mio Bambino
Finishing this felt like taking a dump that you want to Instagram. Just that you’re so proud that it’s finally over but the only real accomplishment is if other people witness it. On the scale of War and Peace (fave) to Anna Karenina (my favorite character was the train), this is slightly above Anna. CBR #9 – Dosvedanya Mio Bombino
Staggering Blindly Through the Wilderness, Lost All Ability to Feel
Book three of Crying Sword Jeebus and His Guilt-Trippin’ Gurl. How good was this one? I started to write the review until I realized I was raging about book FOUR. To be fair, book four really pissed me off. But like Kingdom of the *STATIC HISS* I managed to complete block out the events of this book. Great read, eh? CBR #8 – Staggering Blindly Through The Wilderness, Lost All Ability to Feel
Papercut by Polaroids, I Bled To Death Looking For A Band-Aid
I WILL CROSS-STITCH AN IMAGE OF YOUR FUTURE HOME BURNING. I WILL HANG THIS IMAGE OVER YOUR BED WHILE YOU SLEEP. The promise of this threat couldn’t be sustained by the unreliable third person surrealist narration. If such a thing can be thought to exist. CBR #7 – Papercut By Polaroids, I Bled to Death Looking For A Band-Aid
Do The Evolution, Baby
Excellent short story collection in the vein of pre-vinyl-hipster Jonathan Lethem. Gun, With Occasional Music and As She Climbed Across the Table Lethem. Great studies of human dynamics sauced excellently with strange science elements. Really dug this one. CBR #6 – Do The Evolution, Baby
