What has the most impact on your enjoyment of a book: plot, character, writing, other?
I have to go with writing – if I don’t enjoy reading the words, nothing else matters. And if I do enjoy reading the words, nothing else matters. Of course, there are preferences but I think there’s very little more exciting than falling in love with a book you’d never have suspected.
What’s the first book you recommend to new friends?
Probably whatever I’ve just finished or am in the middle of reading!
How do you decide what to read next on your TBR list?
Zero system whatsoever, I’m an absolute chaos gremlin. I’ve never been good at assigned reading. I use my public library and so due dates play the biggest role, but I’m moody and deal with migraines, so my reading capabilities change. I usually have more than one book in more than one format going at any given time.
Which two authors would you pick to be on your pub trivia team?
Oooh, who are people who know a lot of different things? I’d probably choose Mary Roach because I bet her brain is full of tidbits. And….Sam Irby. Mostly because I’d love to hang out with her.
What’s your favorite summertime food?
Is “fruit” an acceptable answer?!? Summers mean roadside stands and farmers markets to me.
Now that you’ve learned all about Owlizabeth, head over and see what she’s been reading lately, and find sage thoughts like “There are exciting things happening in indie romance, so many cool books getting self-published and authors bringing their own chairs to the table instead of waiting for someone to give them a seat.” Or meet other Cannonballers we’ve interviewed.
