I am a HUGE fan of the show Lucifer and have a huge crush on the star, Tom Ellis. That has nothing to do with this book other than to let you know that he would be perfect to play the male love interest if this was ever made into a movie. Dark-haired, British, and a little snobby, Tom Ellis was definitely who my brain cast while I was reading this book. I am also a huge fan of Sara Cate. She is my favorite smutty writer and she can write a Hell of an age-gap romance. With a husband 13 years older than me, I’m a sucker for an age-gap romance.
Henry is a doctor who hasn’t been present for most of his adult daughter’s life because he has been busy. Being a doctor. So when she calls him and tells him that she is getting married in Las Vegas in a week, he is determined to get there. Mostly so he can stop the wedding. The problem is that he lives on the other side of the country and there are blizzards canceling all of the flights. So he decides that he is going to drive there. His daughter finds out and begs him to bring her best friend with him. So this Forty-something doctor is stuck in the car with Twenty-something Laila. Initially, they hate each other, but after being stuck in a car together for days, sparks start to fly.
The only thing I didn’t love about this book was the whole, “Hey older man, please be the guy to take my virginity” trope. Other than that, the banter was cute, and Sara Cate writes lust and longing like nobody else!
