Back again with another Saga installment! I can’t believe I’m almost finally caught up. What a roller coaster this series is. I saw that when this series first came out, it was billed as “Star Wars meets Game of Thrones” and I give two thumbs up to that comparison. The only thing I would clarify there is that it’s less “Star Wars meets Game of Thrones” and more “Game of Thrones set in a Star Wars-ish Universe” because every other volume has it’s own Red Wedding, in that there is something that will surprise and horrify you that may push you to tears. I’ll tell you right now. This is one of those volumes.
As we begin, hope is shining brightly. Because of two journalists on a quest for truth, a witness protection opportunity has come to light. The story of Marko and Alana will be told, and everyone will be safe. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Is that how it unfolds? You already know the answer. This volume really truly ripped my heart right out of my chest. (Too soon). You know that this isn’t a story of happy endings, but you still want to believe and this volume pulls the rug out from you.
I cannot believe people waited FOUR YEARS between volumes 9 and 10. I for one am scrambling to the library today to get the next installment. Plus, I won’t have long to wait after volume 10. The next new comics are out now, and volume 11 looks to be available in March 2023. Squeal! But also sob.
