This was such a great series, and this book a great ending to it. I feel like I was waiting for sure to say that until I finished this book, and now I can say with certainty that The Scholomance is worth reading. It all just comes together SO WELL. I was happy with the story on the surface, I was happy with the characters and their arcs, and I was happy with what is going on underneath.
This one picks up exactly where we left off in The Last Graduate, with SPOILERS all the students having left the Scholomance, and El being devastated that Orion has chosen to stay inside for seemingly no reason END SPOILERS. The story is pretty much go-go-go from there on out. El and her friends (which she is still surprised about) travel around the world, problem solving (about problems that I can’t tell you about because spoilers). There are some huge revelations and plot twists in this book, and those more than anything made me appreciate how much thought had gone into the planning of this series, and how good the execution of Novik actually writing it turned out. All three of these books back to back to back make up one excellent whole of a story.
I’m very glad that this ended up being three books instead of two because the extra room for character growth and worldbuilding really worked on my emotions. Five well-earned stars.
