I knew as soon as I saw this category that I wanted to read internet icon Chrissy Teigan’s cookbook Cravings for this particular square but I struggled with this review for weeks… How does one properly review a cookbook?
She cooks!
My initial plan was to drag my parents over for a hearty meal of John’s fried chicken, garlic smashed potatoes and roasted carrots but those plans turned into my mother coming over for brunch this weekend and my tackling of Chrissy’s dutch baby pancake and cheesy cheeseless scrambled eggs (I didn’t make the cherry tomatoes).
Dutch Baby Pancake:
I make a big weekend brunch for my husband and myself a few times a month. I usually use shake and pour pancake mix (just add water!) for the convenience but this was so easy, and my husband and mother loved it, that I could see myself making it again throughout the year.

Cheesy Cheeseless Scrambled Eggs (made without burst cherry tomatoes):
I actually saw Chrissy’s scrambled egg recipe on Buzzfeed last year (Chrissy came in second) but never got around to making them this way. These are super simple and I will definitely be doing it this way from now on.

The recipes are really easy to follow (although I forgot to melt the butter in my cast iron pan so my pancake stuck a little), full of beautiful pictures and Chrissy includes a funny blurb about the origins of each recipe at the start of each dish. I still plan to tackle the fried chicken, carrots and potatoes soon as well as her chicken pot pie soup if the Texas weather remains cool.
