What can we say about book 24 in this series that would not have been said about the previous 23 books?? Not much, except that a new love interest has popped up! With a bit of research, apparently Diesel is in the special edition Stephanie Plum books – the Christmas ones. Personally I did not enjoy these off shoots and only read a couple of them. So the new love interest definitely adds something new to this particular book in the series.
Despite this book following the exact same formula of the previous 23 books – Stephanie is chasing down some skips, of course there is the kooky one, the easy pick up one and of course the more dangerous one. Naturally she is on again off again with Morelli and Ranger, and Lula and Grandma continue to provide endless comedic relief. There is the main crime occurring in Trenton – of which Morelli is working endlessly to solve. And Ranger, as always, is mysterious and out of town on business.
Anyone who is still reading this series is not reading it for the originality in each book, or the startling new plot lines. We are still reading these books because despite the repetition, they are ridiculously funny (as in laugh out loud funny), are a quick easy read (around 4 hours) and the ongoing love triangle between Stephanie, Ranger and Morelli. Will she ever settle down with Morelli? Will the sexual tension cease with Ranger, or will some new guy come in and really shake things up – aka Diesel (spoiler alert, not really).
Another hilarious novel – 4 stars.
