This was such a nice surprise. I expected a raunchy romance with a little bit of pirate stuff thrown in, but this is a proper adventure with sea battles, spies, and a lot of sailing talk, while still focusing on the characters.
Kit has been struggling to fix his career with the British Navy after a disastrous voyage has tainted his reputation. He forced to accept a position as a valet just to get back out on the water. His bad luck holds when his ship is boarded by pirates and he is forced into their service.
This is a romance so of course the captain is devilishly handsome and tempts poor Kit, who has so far successfully denied his illegal desires. Griffin is an honorably pirate with a bit of a drinking problem. He is dashing and unpredictable and everything a good rogue should be. This book actually has very little explicit sex and focuses more on the tender moments with lots of kissing and nuzzling.
I really loved this book, I would have liked it to be even longer and go into a little more detail as Kit explores his sexuality since he starts the book as a near innocent. But all in all this was excellent.
