My husband picked up the first volume of Jessica Jones because we had watched the Netflix show and enjoyed it greatly (aside from me having Kilgrave nightmares, but I guess that just means I was invested, right?).
If you’re moving from show to comics, there are substantial differences between this first book and the world of the show—without spoiling anything, her relationship with Luke Cage is different, Malcolm is very different, Carol Danvers is Trish (to some extent), Kilgrave is nowhere to be found (for now?) in the world of the graphic novel.
However, the show and the graphic novel gel in how Jessica’s character feels—the rough and tough PI with a hero past and a huge dose of skepticism only matched by her chain smoking and her doggedness on the case.
