The kid and I took a little break from the Star Wars books for a bit, but we’re back now. At least we’re into the good movies portion of the series.
Like all the other books, this one takes most of the dialogue from the movie verbatim, and also fills in some of the subtext gaps. Interestingly, this particular book adds subtext that is clearly trying to retcon episodes 1 through 3. It was a valiant effort, and my son didn’t notice (he doesn’t know much about subtext yet. Maybe next year).
There isn’t much else to say about this, and I’ll likely have less to say about the next two as well. BUT – I can say that I’m very excited about episode VII. We’ve been having lots of discussions about the house about whether it’s appropriate to take a 7-year-old to a PG-13 movie. My son says it’s perfectly fine. He would.
