I really love Grace Gogarty’s work and so was thrilled when I saw this collection of autobio comics available for preorder. I hopped right on that and then forgot about it until I got the shipping notice, which was another delightful surprise. I am fully on board with using book preorders as a little gift for myself in the future, it cheers up a rough day.
Little Tunny’s Snail Diaries collects a variety of Gogarty’s autobio comics in a really nice edition. The format mimics a diary and the book comes with a diary lock attached, which I loved! Getting to unlock the book to open it added to the experience. I love these comics, and I think Gogarty has a very unique and fun style. I also love all the pets in this book and encourage everyone to go check them out on TikTok, especially Breakfast Sandwich, who is probably my favorite internet cat. The comics chronicle weird and bad encounters with people on the street and at work, cute pet moments, and fun moments with friends. Gogarty has a great eye for a bizarre encounter and has a slightly grotesque yet cutesy style that works perfectly with the odd people depicted here.
I love this book and will keep happily buying any future collections. I do wish I could also get a physical collection of “Times I Made My Ex BF Cry,” which is a great series about Gogarty’s terrible ex, but those comics are available online only for now.
