CBRBingo: Rec’d
This book was not recommended to me by any one Cannonballer, but by the collective. I was intrigued when I read the 2020 book club discussion post – a book so loved by Cannonballers it was being revisited, and also coincidentally resonant with the then new pandemic. As the reviews came in I checked them out, and also looked back to the 2015 batch.
Emmalita described it as a story of loss, meaning and human connection. MarkAbaddon spoke of resilience and our collective strength. The beauty forced from chaos lodged deep in andtheIToldYouSos’ heart. KimMiE expects to reread this story of beauty and hope over a lifetime. tillie was scared sleepless. scootsa1000 was all about this amazing book right from the start.
I agree with faintingviolet that this is a book best read without knowing too much about it, so I won’t say anything about the plot or setting. Just how it made me feel.
Reading this book in a personal dark time helped me to find my own resilience and motivated me to strengthen my own connections to the people I love. Anything can be survived. Our human drive to create and share will get us through. We will never know the full impact of our actions on those around us, and those who come after us. But the beauty we create and the love we nurture add to the collective and make us all stronger.
I will read this book again, when I am an older different version of me. I expect to learn something new about myself and the world when I do.
