While talking about books to celebrate Pride Month, andtheIToldYouSos brought up discovering Becky Chambers last year during Cannon Book Club’s The Future is Queer event. “That was a huge game changer- as a reader, queer person, and a disillusioned Harry Potter fan. Rowling was at her worst, and CBR gave me Chambers at their BEST.”
Personally, I love recommending books that show all kinds of people, and especially queer people, finding joy and happily ever afters. I have a huge list, but right now I will start with Katrina Jackson, Anna Zabo and Eli Wray, three amazing authors who don’t get discussed nearly enough.
Cannonballers read and review books written by and about people who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community all year, and there is nothing we love more than talking about and recommending books. This weekend we are bringing three great things together to celebrate pride: talking about books, recommending books, and showing off how we celebrate Pride.
- Which books would you recommend to someone if they wanted to read LGBTQ+ books for Pride?
- Are there books you discovered through Cannonball Read?
How are you celebrating Pride Month? Please share pics of your pets in their pride gear, or of your pride shelves.
