(Definitely) The Best Dogs of All Time by Jadan Carroll has no rhyme or reason to which dogs were chosen. The choices come from the fact the author thinks all dogs are grand, therefore, any dog really would do. However, these dogs are ones that spoke to him and he has chosen dogs that are of legend, from the US Navy, a dog park dog, the pampered pooches of royalty and even a dog called Duke who is the three-time elected mayor of Cormorant, Minnesota
This book is a real pick of the litter kind of book! If you need a gift, it is perfect for being a hostess gift, a Get Well Soon gift, a Congrats on Your New Family Member of the four-leg kind, a little “stocking stuffer” gift and of course perfect for that person who has everything but you still need to give a gift for A Secret Santa-like exchange.
Molly Dyson’s basically abstract illustrations (you can see it is a dog, you can tell the features, but they are not realistic at the same time) are humorous and pick up the light attitude of the book.
The best part of this book that it is not serious, but you can actually learn something. There are facts about Cerberus that were not in my Greek myth books and stories along with dogs I had never heard of. Other dogs were expanded on, yet nothing is over a couple of pages long. This book is just a book to sit and enjoy.
