This book was so cute. This book was so cute that while doing this review, I went back and read it again. I first discovered its existence during the 2016 election. I haven’t been able to find a copy anywhere until recently when it popped up on Kindle unlimited. So if you have Kindle unlimited, you can read this cute little thing for free. If you do pay for it, Benincasa will donate the proceeds to help mentor foster kids, though, which is pretty cool.
Sara Benincasa is a comedian and writer whose works have been hit or miss for me. I really enjoyed Agorafabulous, which was a memoir she wrote about her anxieties. Not a super fan of her adaptation of The Great Gatsby though, I didn’t even finish it. I think Caitlin D reviewed that one for the site?
Anyway, Tim Kaine is your nice Dad is basically a book full of all the nice things that Tim Kaine does. It is parody. It is fiction. There is absolutely no proof that Tim Kaine will pick you up anytime of day or night, regardless of what situation you’re in. We don’t know for sure that Tim Kaine love the new grill he bought for his backyard. We don’t know that he loves to grill at all. But every chapter of this book is titled as something that really does sound like something Tim Kaine would like.
To be honest, I have basically forgotten everything I may have ever ACTUALLY known about Tim Kaine at this point. But if you read this book and replace his name with Joe Biden’s, you will love it even more.
