Lucky Suit is a popcorn romance novella, so it’s light and cute and enjoyable.
Kristen is a scientist who researches renewable energy (I think) and is intellectual and likes stars and math and poker. She has one of those awesome grandmas who wears skinny jeans in her seventies and fixes up old cars. And Grandma is trying to set up someone with Kristen, which has not turned out all that well so far. So Kristen turns to online dating, which Grandma is not about.
Cameron is in the chocolate business. The business side, that is. Lulu, his partner, makes the chocolates, and Cameron travels around selling them to hotels and things. Cameron likes philosophy and photography and poker. Cameron doesn’t want to try online dating at all. Cameron meets Kristen’s Grandma at a car auction run by his uncle, and Grandma starts to plot. Online poker is nothing like online dating, right?
We have pranks and misdirection and doubt, but nothing too heavy or serious. There are flamingoes and chocolate and Photoshop. (Can you Photoshop on a phone? Do they have a mobile version?) (Update: yes they do have a mobile version!) And we learn some things. Miami to Vegas is apparently a five hour flight. There might such things as math marathons. The Andromeda galaxy is going to collide with the Milky Way galaxy in 4.5 billion years. Flamingos are pink because of the food they eat. (I already knew that one!) You can spell it ‘flamingos’ or flamingoes’ (which I just found out writing this review.)
So looking for a fairly drama-free light romance? Try your luck with this!
(I listened to this as an Audible Original, so that might be the only place you can get it.)
