Columbine details the before and after of the shooting at Columbine High School in April, 1999. I found this an interesting read and had a hard time putting it down. While reading, it really made me wonder, could all of this have been prevented? I know that looking back it is easy to see all the signs that were missed, but there were some things that I feel the police should have taken more seriously, and I think that knew they should have too considering some of their actions after the shooting began.
I also learned more about this attack then I knew in the past. The author sees their mission as a failure, as they were unable to do what they planned. They wanted to kill more than the Oklahoma bombing, something that they didn’t even come close to. I knew that they had bombs but I did not realize that their bombs failed, and they had to go to plan B.
I feel that the author did a good job covering all aspects of this tragedy. He talks about both Dylan and Eric, and also the victims and survivors. He talked with families of those who lost a loved one, and with those who were injured. You learn about their life before and after. The author starts out with detailing the tragedy and then goes back and forth between the before and the after. You see what Dylan and Eric were doing leading up to the shooting and how people were doing after.
