A Meh Grows in Brooklyn

Another Brooklyn by Jacqueline Woodson

January 6, 2017 by Kitkat 2 Comments

When I was growing up, my mother always told me that, if I couldn’t think of something nice to say, I shouldn’t say anything at all.  Good thing I thought of something nice to say about this book, or this review would’ve been a lot harder to write.

August is a Tennessee girl who gets taken to Brooklyn after bad stuff goes down back home.  After a lot of time spent staring out the window, she eventually makes friends with a trio of talented, intelligent, ambitious girls: Sylvia, Gigi, and Angela.  Everything goes downhill from there.

You can read my review of Another Brooklyn on my blog.

This book was definitely just “okay,” which crushed me, because I LOVED Brown Girl Dreaming.
