So I completed my very first Cannonball with a book I very much enjoyed but couldn’t let myself stop there and decided to squeeze in one more book and review before the year’s end… and what a mistake that was.
I borrowed Dear Mrs Kennedy from a friend who enjoyed it. Knowing my tastes for Kennedys and history, she brought it with her when she came to visit over Thanksgiving weekend. I opened it that night and I finally finished all 222 pages of it today. I kept finding Internet articles to read or TV shows to watch and had to remind myself to finish before she came back into town (today!)
It is just very dry. The book is really all just compiled letters to Jackie Kennedy following the assination of President John F Kennedy in Dallas. Not much else is added and you don’t walk away feeling like you learned anything about her during the time period they reference. I expected too much from it and therefore was very disappointed.
Not a bad book, just a very dull book.
