One day, I woke up to an email saying that I was invited to join the street team for Bones & All, and that an ARC and “swag bag” were already on the way. Since books are one of my favorite things ever, I was pretty stoked. I was slightly disappointed that the “swag bag” was just a tote with the book’s cover on it, but it’s cool enough (Though mine is covered in cat hair because my big orange cat decided that the tote was his new bed for a week or two).
Bones & All sounded pretty cool, but it scared me a little. It’s about a teenage cannibal, as the author describes it, teenage cannibals in love. I have had bad almost-throwing-up moments during some descriptions of gore, but I was relieved that this book was pretty much gore free.
Maren has had the urge to devour people who get too close ever since she was very young. Over the years, after she has eaten someone, her mother moves them away. After Maren’s 16th birthday, she wakes up to find her mother has left. She sets off to find her father, hoping to find that he shares her secret. On the way, Maren finds other people like her.
It’s kind of a weird book, but it is pretty good. You can read my full review here.
*The correct quote is “We’ll eat you up, we love you so,” but my mangling fits better with the book
